Threepwood Consulting
A complete website redesign and bespoke 3D visualisation project for a leading power engineering consultancy - helping Threepwood Consulting present highly technical services to a global client base with the clarity, authority and visual quality their reputation demands.
The
Challenge.
Threepwood Consulting is a specialist power engineering consultancy operating in the electricity transmission and distribution sector. They work with some of the largest names in the energy industry — clients include National Grid, BAE Systems, Scottish Power, Network Rail, Drax and Samsung Electronics — providing expert consultancy across asset management, electrical safety, technical documentation, network compliance and LCT assessment.
With ISO 9001 certification, Achilles UVDB accreditation and a team of consultants respected across the UK and internationally, Threepwood’s credentials were not in question. But their digital presence was falling short of the standard the business had built in every other area. Their existing website was dated, difficult to navigate and did not communicate the depth and breadth of their expertise in a way that matched the calibre of their client list.
For a business operating in a highly technical, relationship-driven sector — where procurement teams and engineering directors are evaluating credibility before they ever pick up the phone — first impressions matter enormously.
Key challenges
Website below business standard
An outdated site was not representative of a business working with major national and international energy clients.
Complex services, mixed audiences
Highly technical services needed to be communicated clearly to both technical and non-technical decision-makers.
Multiple service areas
Each service discipline required its own detailed page and clear positioning — not a single generic capabilities overview.
No visual assets
No imagery existed that could convey the scale and complexity of electricity network infrastructure.
Large client portfolio to showcase
Over 80 named clients needed to be presented in a way that built credibility without overwhelming the visitor.
Our
Approach.
The project was structured around two primary workstreams: a full website redesign and a bespoke 3D artwork and visualisation programme to give Threepwood a library of original visual assets that no other engineering consultancy could replicate.
The approach
Web design
Built on Next.js with Payload CMS. Service pages structured to communicate technical expertise accessibly to decision-makers at every level. A searchable client library with individual profiles for key clients, project summaries and testimonials. Design built to convey authority and precision — clean layouts, considered typography, content hierarchy that guides from broad understanding to specific service detail.
3D artwork & visualisation
A suite of bespoke 3D visualisations depicting electricity network infrastructure — substations, transmission towers, switchgear and distribution assets — rendered to a standard that reflects the technical precision Threepwood brings to its work. Created specifically for Threepwood and used throughout the site to bring services to life visually in a way photography alone could not achieve.
The
Results.
The new website gave Threepwood a digital presence that finally matched the standard of the business it represents.
Outcomes
Website fit for a global client list
The redesigned site is now the centrepiece of Threepwood’s business development activity. Feedback from existing clients and new prospects has been consistently positive.
3D assets used across the business
The visualisation library is in regular use in client proposals, conference presentations and technical reports — giving Threepwood a distinctive visual language that sets them apart from other engineering consultancies.
Improved content discoverability
Structured service and client architecture combined with on-site SEO has improved visibility for specialist engineering consultancy terms. Prospective clients can now find clear, authoritative content before any conversation takes place.
Full content ownership
The Payload CMS setup means the team can update their news section, add new client profiles and manage downloads independently — a significant operational benefit in a sector where maintaining up-to-date documentation matters.
Client
Feedback.
We needed a website that properly represents who we are and what we do to the kind of clients we work with. Web & Roll understood that brief from the start. The 3D visualisations in particular have been a game changer for us - we use them constantly and they communicate our work in a way that nothing else could. The whole project was handled professionally and the result is something we are genuinely proud of.
