The right platform matters

We don't default to one platform. We recommend the right one.

Getting the platform decision wrong early means a painful migration later. We ask the right questions at the start so you end up on the right platform from day one.

Most agencies build everything on the same platform regardless of what you actually need. We work predominantly with Payload CMS but can work with platforms such as WooCommerce or Shopify when required - and we recommend the right fit based on what you're selling, how many products you have, how your team manages inventory and what you want to do in the next three years.

What separates

What separates a store that sells from one that doesn't.

Most eCommerce sites fail for one of three reasons. The site is too slow - a one-second delay in load time can reduce conversions by up to 7%. The checkout is too complicated - every additional step loses a percentage of buyers. Or the site isn't being found in the first place - no SEO, no Google Shopping, no paid search.

We build stores that address all three from the start. Performance is engineered in, not added later. The checkout flow is designed around how customers actually behave. And the SEO foundation is laid during the build so the store starts generating organic traffic from day one rather than six months after launch.

Platforms we work with

eCommerce platforms we work with.

We work predominantly with Payload CMS and can build on WooCommerce or Shopify where that's a better fit. The recommendation always comes from understanding your business first - not from defaulting to whatever's quickest for us to build on.

WooCommerce

The most flexible eCommerce platform available and our most common recommendation for small to medium-sized stores. Built on WordPress, it gives you full control without locking you into a monthly subscription. We build custom WooCommerce stores from scratch - no off-the-shelf themes, no shared templates.

Shopify

The right choice for businesses that want a reliable, hosted platform without the overhead of managing a server. Shopify handles the infrastructure so you can focus on selling. We build custom Shopify themes and integrations for businesses that need more than a standard template.

Medusa

An open-source, headless eCommerce platform for businesses that need maximum flexibility and performance. Medusa pairs with a Next.js frontend to deliver a fast, fully customisable store with no platform lock-in. The right choice for high-growth businesses or those with complex product or integration requirements.

Bespoke commerce

For businesses with genuinely complex requirements - custom pricing logic, B2B account management, wholesale portals or deep integration with existing systems - we build bespoke eCommerce solutions from scratch. Built exactly to your specification, owned entirely by you.

eCommerce SEO and marketing

Building the store is only half the job.

An eCommerce site that nobody can find won't generate sales regardless of how well it's built. Every store we build has SEO baked in from the start - proper product page structure, category page optimisation, schema markup for Google Shopping and a sitemap that gets your products indexed quickly.

For stores that want to accelerate growth, we also manage Google Shopping campaigns, paid search and SEO on an ongoing basis. Having the same team build the store and run the marketing means everything is set up to work together from day one.

  • Google Shopping setup and management
  • Product and category page SEO
  • Google Ads for high-intent product searches
  • Ongoing SEO to build long-term organic traffic
  • Conversion rate optimisation to improve what the traffic does when it arrives

What to expect

What a well-built eCommerce site actually delivers.

A new store won't generate sales overnight. The first few weeks after launch are about indexation, initial traffic and learning how your customers behave on the site. The return builds as SEO kicks in, as paid campaigns optimise and as you learn which products and categories are driving the most revenue.

What you can realistically expect from a properly built and marketed store over six to twelve months:

  • Fast, reliable performance that doesn't lose customers to slow load times or broken checkout flows
  • Organic traffic building as product and category pages gain rankings
  • A clear picture of where revenue is coming from across organic, paid and direct channels
  • A platform your team can manage without constant developer input
  • A codebase you own outright with no platform lock-in if your requirements change

How we build

Our eCommerce process.

Every campaign is built around what your specific site needs - but these are the areas we work across for most clients.

Planning

We start by understanding what you need the store to do - product range, user journey, integration requirements, platform fit. You leave the planning stage with a written brief and a fixed scope.

Design

Wireframes first, then visual design. The design is focused on user experience and conversion - how customers move from product discovery to checkout without unnecessary friction.

Development

We build in your chosen platform, implement SEO best practice throughout and configure any custom functionality. You get a staging URL early in the build so you can review as we go.

Testing

End-to-end testing of the purchase journey, payment gateway, stock management and any integrations before launch. You get a final review pass before anything goes live.

Launch

Go-live, Google Search Console submission, Google Merchant Center setup where applicable, and team training on the CMS and order management.

Maintenance

Three months of support included automatically. After that, optional retainers for hosting, updates, ongoing SEO and PPC.

Anybody looking for a website marketing company this is the only company you need to deal with. These guys Ian and Tom know what they’re doing. Very very good and knowledgeable and don’t just take your money and do nothing in return they give excellent service. I was recommended to these guys after going through a very bad experience with another company and I wish I’d found them sooner. Nothing is too much trouble and there always there when I need advice and guidance. I’d give 10 stars if I could!!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We are thrilled with our new website! Excellent collaboration; we had a concept for our new website, and we achieved it and more. With its excellent modern design and quick loading speed, this has advanced our company. We were able to make sure we didn't overlook anything that could significantly improve our enquiries thanks to Web and Roll.

Ian and Tom helped me bring my idea alive despite me knowing zero about web design. Approachable, enthusiastic and patient, all great qualities that helped me navigate my way into the unknown world of setting up my own business. They made it seem less scary, and worked with me at my pace, and with my time zone! Come to Florida Ian and Tom first rounds on me. Professional, quality and very reasonably priced. Will absolutely recommend. 5 stars from me.
